By 1963 he toured the world, served twenty months in prison, and felt the crushing expectations of popularity. Here in 1963 he appears on French tv, employing the musicianship and showmanship that inspired artists such as The Beatles and the Rolling Stones… and a wave of musical acts that would carry rock and roll into the next decade.

After learning that last Friday was the 53rd anniversary of the day the music died, I became inspired to create the following Spotify playlist.
